Ruth's List Florida is proud to name Daisy Baez to our list of #Women2Watch -- our campaign to highlight Democratic women candidates who will be key to breaking Rick Scott's Tea Party super majority in the Florida Legislature.
Daisy Baez was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. At the age of 17, she immigrated to the United States and devoted herself to service by joining the United States Army at the age of 20. After basic training, she was assigned to the First Cavalry Divisions Surgeon's Office in Fort Hood, Texas. After she was honorably discharged in 1983, she went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Master’s in Counseling Education.
Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of the Dominican Health Care Association of Florida, which she helped found, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors at the Merrick House Museum in Coral Gables. Her daughter currently attends Florida International University.
